- Operating by Hand Wheel, Gear Wheel or Actuator
- Body: cast and forging form
- Disc: Can be various types, such as plug, flat disc, or regulating disc
- Stem: Typically rising stem, outside screw and yoke design
- Bonnet: Bolted bonnet and Union Bonnet
- Trim: Linear: Equal Percentage, Quick-Opening or Soft-Seated Trim
- Connection: Flanged, Threaded or Butt-Weld
Materials:
- Body and Bonnet Material:
Cast Steel Globe Valves:
- Carbon Steel: ASTM A216 WCB (common for general service, moderate temperatures and pressures)
- Alloy Steel: ASTM A217 WC6, WC9 (for higher temperatures and pressures, improved creep resistance)
- Stainless Steel: ASTM A351 CF8, CF8M (for corrosive environments)
Forged Steel Globe Valves
- Carbon Steel: ASTM A105 (common for general service)
- Alloy Steel: ASTM A182 F11, F22 (for higher temperatures and pressures, improved creep resistance)
- Stainless Steel: ASTM A182 F304, F316 (for corrosive environments)
- Trim Material
Cast Steel Globe Valves
- Carbon Steel: Common: 13% Chromium Stainless Steel (e.g., ASTM A182 F6)
- Alloy Steel: Common: 13% Chromium Stainless Steel (ASTM A182 F6), Stellite 6 (for severe erosion/abrasion)
Forged Steel Globe Valves
- Carbon Steel: Common: 13% Chromium Stainless Steel (ASTM A182 F6), Stellite 6
- Alloy Steel: Common: 13% Chromium Stainless Steel (ASTM A182 F6), Stellite 6, cobalt-based alloys (for extreme wear resistance)
- Superalloy Globe Valves: Inconel: Inconel 600, 625 (excellent high-temperature and corrosion resistance), Hastelloy: Hastelloy C-276, X (superior resistance to various corrosive media), Stellite: Stellite 6 (for extreme wear resistance) or Cobalt-based alloys: Offer exceptional hardness and wear resistance
- Special Design for Valve Trim (Cladding Nickel Super alloy)
- Temperature: High-temperature applications typically favor alloys like Inconel 625 or Incoloy 800H
- Corrosion Resistance: Aggressive environments might necessitate Hastelloy C-276 or Inconel 625
- Mechanical Stress: Valves subjected to significant mechanical stress may benefit from alloys like Inconel 718 or Nimonic 80A
Temperature Ratings:
- Designed to operate within specific temperature ranges, depending on the materials of construction.
Applications of API 600 ANSI Globe Valves:
- Oil and Gas: For controlling flow in pipelines, refineries, and processing plants.
- Power Generation: In power plants for controlling steam and water flow.
- Chemical Processing: In chemical plants for handling various corrosive and hazardous fluids.
